Our History

HOGL Energy Limited is the downstream oil and gas business of the Honeywell Group. It is one of the leading indigenous oil and gas marketing companies in Nigeria. The Company was incorporated in 1995 and has, over the years, established a name and an enviable pedigree for itself in the marketing and distribution of petroleum products in Nigeria.

Building on the successes and brands of its forerunners within the Honeywell Group, the Company has continued to provide its services with utmost integrity and professionalism in all the spheres of its business.

Chairman Of The Board

Dr. Oba Otudeko, CFR is Founder and Chairman of Honeywell Group and also Group Chairman, FBN Holdings Plc. He was, at various times, Chairman, First Bank of Nigeria, FBN Bank (UK) Limited, Airtel Nigeria and Fan Milk of Nigeria Plc. He has also served on the Boards of Central Bank of Nigeria (1990 – 1997), Guinness Nigeria Plc (1999 – 2003), British American Tobacco Ltd (2001 – 2004) and Ecobank Transnational Incorporated, headquartered in Lome, Togo (2002 – 2010).

Between September 2006 and August 2009, he was the 16th President and Chairman of Council of the Nigerian Stock Exchange. Professionally, he is a chartered banker, chartered accountant and chartered corporate secretary.

Dr. Oba Otudeko holds the Nigerian National Honour of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR), awarded in 2011. He was Chancellor of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State from 2001 to 2010 and currently serves as a member of the Office of Distinguished Friends of the London Business School (UK). Dr. Oba Otudeko is the Promoter of Oba Otudeko Foundation (OOF), a not-for-profit organisation.

Olatokunbo Amosu (Managing Director)

Olatokunbo Amosu is a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. He is a lawyer by training with a bias in Maritime Law and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1990. Tokunbo has over 24 years work experience in Law, Finance, Shipping and Oil Trading and Operations; 10 of these in Senior/Executive Management positions.

Before joining the Honeywell Group, he worked as Counsel in the law firm of M.A.O Ojelade & Co; Manager, Legal Services Asset Finance Limited and Company Secretary/Legal Adviser - Perpetual Savings and Loans Limited. Whilst working in the finance sector, he undertook training in Treasury Management, Credit Management and Supervisory Management.

He joined the Legal Department of the Honeywell Group in 1995 and was transferred to one of the subsidiaries of the Group - Tiko Marine Services in 1997 as pioneer Operations Manager and founding Staff responsible for managing the company's vessels, trading and bunkering activities.

He was given enhanced responsibilities after the merger of Tiko Marine Services and HOGL Energy Ltd. His responsibilities spanned trading, vessel management and operations. Tokunbo has attended specialized courses at the Centre for Petroleum Studies, Oxford namely: International Oil Trading, Supply Refinery and Transportation, Tanker Ownership and Operations, International Oil Trading and Pricing, Total Risk Management in the International Oil and Derivatives Market and Understanding the Global Lubricants Business.

Before his promotion to the position of Managing Director of HOGL, he was the Chief Operating Officer and was part of the team responsible for the turnaround of the company. Tokunbo is married with Children

Oloruntoba Ola (Chief Operating Officer)

Oloruntoba Ola holds a Bachelor degree (Second Class Upper) in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Lagos and an MBA in Shipping and Logistics (Distinction) from Middlesex University London, UK. He is an Associate of the Institute of Civil Engineers UK and Chartered Management Institute UK.

He started his career at Linetrale Petroleum as a Freight Analyst and served in several key positions including managing the Chartering and Shipping Department. In 2012, he joined Hudson Petroleum as the pioneer Operations Manager responsible for coordinating the shipping, logistics, sales and supply chain management for the company. Oloruntoba was seconded by the Honeywell Group to HOGL Energy in 2016 as the Chief Operating Officer.

He has trained competencies in general management, business strategy formulation, commodity trading, finance, risk management, maritime economics and administration, logistics and supply chain management. Over the years, he has attended several local and international courses including the Oxford Princetons programme in Tanker Ownership, Chartering and Operations.

Olatunde Olagunju (Chief Accountant)

Olatunde attended the Polytechnic Ibadan, where he obtained HND Banking and Finance in 1987. He is an associate member of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN).

He trained with Z.O. Ososanya & Co., a firm of Chartered Accountants. He has over twenty years in practical managerial accounting and finance experience both in audit practice, oil & gas, and manufacturing sector of the economy. His experience after qualification as an accountant includes working as an accountant in United Distillers and Vintners Nigeria Limited, Finance Manager at Manaksia Industries Limited, Head of Accounts at Eterna Oil & Gas Plc, Chief Accountant at Tayleks Drugs Co. Limited before joining HOGL Energy Limited in 2005 as a Finance Manager.

Adams Salauddin (Terminal Manager )

Adams is an Industrial Chemist, a graduate of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi. In addition, he holds a post graduate diploma in Management from the same University. He also has CISCO networking Associate Certificate (CCNA) in view from the University of Jos.

He has a wide range of experience in process and manufacturing management spanning over a decade. His experience includes operation and management of various chemicals plants in Nasco Household Products Ltd, Jos. Adams was inducted into the Institute of Chartered Chemist of Nigeria in 2007. He is also a member of Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN).

Fehintola Okunade (Information Technology Manager)

Okunade Fehintola is the Information Technology Manager. She is a member of the Nigerian Computer Society (NCS). She studied Computer Science at the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin and graduated with an Upper Credit .She also has a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso (2008).

She holds the following professional certifications related to her information technology career path; ITIL, Microsoft Certified System Administration (MCSA), Certified Cisco network associate (CCNA), Certified Microsoft Professional. She began her working career at Wonder foods Nigeria Limited (Now known as Promasidor Nigeria Limited), Lagos in the year 2001.

She worked there as a User Support Specialist and later became the Client System Administrator. She has over Ten (10) years hands on experience on user support, software administration, network management, management of information system and hardware maintenance. She has dynamically changed the state of information technology awareness of the organization and enhances the information service delivery at all levels of the organization. She enjoys reading and listening to music. She is happily married with Children.

Emmanuel Ekpenyong (Head Lubricants )

Emmanuel Ekpenyong ,a member of the Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria (ICCON),studied Applied Chemistry at the University of Uyo and graduated with a 2nd class upper degree . He also has a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree in International Business Management (2006) from the Lagos State University. He began his working career at Peacock Paints Limited, Etinan in the year 2000.

He worked there as a Management Trainee and later as a Shift Production Manager for two years. He also had a brief stint with Stonecraft Granite & Marble CFTZ in Nigeria’s Premier Exporting Processing Zone, Calabar, as a Shift Engineer(Quality Control) from 2002-2003.

He later joined HOGL Energy Limited in December 2003 as Laboratory Chemist. He set up the company's state-of-the-art quality control laboratory at Apapa and Calabar depots where testing of fuels and lubricants are carried out. He served in various capacities including Terminal Manager and Plant Manager. Currently, he is the Head Lubricants at HOGL Energy Limited. His hobbies are writing, playing scrabble and swimming. He is happily married with children.

Lanre Otudeko (Head Fuels )

Lanre graduated from the University of Lagos in year 2000, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science ( B.Sc) degree in Marine Biology.

She began her working experience at Pivot Engineering Company Limited in year 2003 as the Business Development Officer, specializing in marketing the company's services to the following industries: Building, Oil and Gas and Telecommunications. She held this position for a period of Two years. She later joined HOGL Energy Limited in March 2005 as a Lubes Sales Executive, a position she held for Four Years and was later transferred to the Credit Control Unit of the Finance Department.

She implemented the company's Credit Policy ensuring that the debt profile is managed effectively and debt owed by Customers is converted to cash quickly and also that the potential for bad and doubtful debt is minimized as much as possible. She is presently the Acting Head White Fuels, overseeing the marketing of white fuels to Industrial and Retail Customers.

Olawale Ojo (Internal Control Manager)

Mr Olawale Johnson Ojo until his appointment as the Internal Control Manager of HOGL Energy Limited, started his career with Nexan Kabelmetel Nigeria Plc, a multinational cable manufacturing company before joining Joint Komputer Kompany Ltd (JKK) an IT firm as the Accountant. He was a member of the team that raised capital for the firm through Private Placement. He later became the Company Accountant of JKK Oneware Ltd a subsidiary of JKK Ltd. Olawale's career in manufacturing, Information Technology and Oil and Gas industries spans over 15 years.

Olawale holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Lagos, Nigeria and is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria.
